Tuba Trousers was a good cat. At times a little dumb but constantly compassionate and entertaining.
I talked to my mom on the phone about it this morning. She reminded me of what a good life we gave her. We got her from a shelter and had traded her for a deaf white kitten that I didn't like because it wasn't playful enough. Katie had fleas and worms and was the ugliest cat at the shelter. We had already had Tootles for a little while so she wasn't too happy with the addition of another cat, especially one that was as gamey as Tuba. My mom thinks that she was abused as a kitten because she was fearful of people at first and hated being held. That's just a theory though, and she never really LIKED being held, especially in her old age.
Either way. She was a very happy cat. She joined everyone in the laughs and good times- she would play fetch, run around from the kitchen to the laundry room, killed a bunny because she sneaked outside once, or how she would follow me around and jump up on my lap and flex her paws on my knees when I was standing by her.
There are many more great memories about Tuba Trousers. I wish she could have held on to her new name a little longer, but 'c'est la vie.'

You will be sorely missed.

Alla Prima painting I did of her last week. It's not quite done, I need to add green to the background and some other things. I'm glad I chose her as subject matter.

p.s. For any of you in the area (Briana? lol) I think that I will be holding a get together for Tuba Trousers this saturday at my house. Ryan had the idea of making a photo-print cake of either a tuba or that picture on Facebook of him sitting on her, because it's my favorite. We would eat cake and be merry, then go back downtown before I go see Mt Eerie at High Noon Saloon. Anyone interested?
